from Meditations on Hunting, 2016 Watercolor on paper 8 x 8 Emilie Clark is a New York artist who works in drawing, painting, installation and writing. From 2013-2015 she has had solo shows at the Katonah Museum of Art in Katonah, NY, the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, NV, and the Lynden Sculpture Garden in Milwaukee, WI. She was in the Children’s Museum of the Art’s inaugural exhibition Tweet, in New York, and the San Jose Museum of Art’s “Around the Table,” where she had an extensive installation of her work. Clark is represented by Morgan Lehman Gallery, where she exhibited Sweet Corruptions in 2013 and is currently showing Meditations on Hunting. In 2010 Clark was the first Artist in Residence at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Her residency culminated in an exhibition in the Steinhardt Conservatory. She was included in the Weatherspoon Museum’s Biennial Art on Paper in 2010, in addition to several other group shows. Her work has been featured in many publications, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, Bomb, Printed Project, Cabinet Magazine, Art in America, Art Week, The Village Voice and Time Out New York. Clark is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Pollock Krasner and the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio fellowship. She was an Artist Fellow at The Drawing Center in New York City from 2013-2015. Born and raised in San Francisco, Clark received her BFA from Cornell University in 1991, and moved to New York City from the Bay Area in 1998. She received her MFA from Bard College in 2002. Clark is currently an assistant Professor at Ohio Wesleyan’s New York Arts Program. Her studio is in Hoboken and she lives in New York City with her two boys, Cosmo and Luca, and husband, Lytle Shaw.
